INTEX Environmental Group, Inc.
WASTE MANAGEMENT AND PERMITTING SERVICES
INTEX Environmental has completed hazardous waste management and permitting projects. These projects have involved a wide variety of disciplines including: RCRA permitting; compliance; hazardous waste characterization, identification and profiling; assistance in regulatory reporting requirements for generators; and compliance.

Construction Management
WASTE MANAGEMENTT
Containment Cap Integrity Maintenance, Kentucky Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Cabinet, Division of Waste Management, A.L. Taylor Site Superfund Site
Polychlorinated Biphenyl Disposal, Private Industrial Park
Sampling of a polychlorinated biphenyl contaminated facility resulted in the transportation and disposal of contaminated waste oils (50,000 gallons of liquids in bulk); the cleaning, decontamination, and certification of a polychlorinated biphenyl contaminated storage tank farm (18 tanks of up to 20,000 gallon capacity), and the packaging of over 200 drums of contaminated solids.
Organic Sludge Disposal, Public Service Electric and Gas
This project involved the excavation, transportation, and disposal of coal tar gas holding pit, and fly ash stabilization of organic sludges (over 2,000 tons).
Contaminated Soil Disposal, Englehard Corporation
INTEX Environmental excavated, transported, and disposed over 700 tons of contaminated soil from the site.
Underground Storage Tank Management, Hoechst Celanese Corporation
This project involved the cleaning and acid passivation of an underground storage tank system.
Calcium Hydroxide Lime Management, Liquid Carbonic Corporation
INTEX Environmental provided complete project management and site services for the reclamation of three lime storage lagoons in PA, NY and Florida. At each location, INTEX assembled an excavation, reclamation and transportation team and established contracts with local recycling facilities. Over 50,000 tons of lime were removed and all lagoons reclaimed for future development.
Compliance Audit, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Eljer Plumbingware
Performed Compliance Monitoring Evaluation of Solid Waste Management Unit at cast iron fixture production facility. Land disposal unit on property was used for deposition of cupola baghouse dust. Evaluated design of facility's groundwater monitoring system. Results of this evaluation submitted to EPA for enforcement purposes.
Compliance Audit, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Various Hazardous Waste Sites
Performed Land Disposal Restriction inspections and compliance audits at numerous hazardous waste generating facilities. Plant inspections and audits performed to evaluate waste handling procedures to determine compliance with RCRA regulations. Project included submitting findings to the EPA for their issuance of Notices of Non-compliance to the facilities.
Compliance Audit, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Modern Plating
The project included compliance monitoring and technical review of a RCRA Facility Investigation and Corrective Measures Study. The plating company had discharged hazardous waste into a surface impoundment that had leaked and overflowed, releasing hazardous waste into the ground. Investigation included an electromagnetic survey, soil borings, monitor well installations, and aquifer testing.
Environmental Investigation, Industrial (RCRA) Site, British Petroleum
Assessed lateral extent of onsite landfill full of waste drums using electromagnetics and magnetometer. Conducted soil and groundwater sampling around the site to assess off-site migration of potential contaminants. Made recommendations to the client for future action. Addressed closure of a hazardous waste management unit on this site to meet State RCRA Clean Closure requirements.
CERCLA and
Department of Defense
Environmental Investigation, U.S. Air Force
Multi-million dollar USAF investigation of former spill/disposal sites on active Air Force Base designated as a Superfund site. Responsible for scoping, planning, implementing, and reporting several phases of multi-site investigations, including surface geophysics, drilling, sampling, pump-testing and treatment pilot studies. All investigation workplans, health and safety plans, community relations plans, and report prepared in accordance with current CERCLA guidance.
Environmental Investigation, Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation Topsham Plating Co.
Investigation and risk assessment of former plating facility designated as a Superfund site. Facility was site for illegal disposal of plating solutions, wastewaters, and related chemicals at the surface and into a neighboring residential septic system. Responsible for defining extent and magnitude of environmental contamination, identifying potential exposure receptors and pathways, and quantitative assessment of associated health risks.
CERCLA Compliance, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Dane County Landfill, Wisconsin
Provided technical enforcement support to EPA. Monitored compliance of remedial investigation and feasibility study under CERCLA guidelines. The Dane County Landfill had accepted municipal solid waste and hazardous waste. The remedial investigation included a cover survey and an electromagnetic survey.
